There’s one move the Boston Red Sox can still make this offseason that wouldn’t surprise anyone.
Everyone can see that they could still use another infielder after not getting Alex Bregman back and instead watching him go to the Chicago Cubs in free agency.
The key nuance to Boston’s remaining need is that there are options both in free agency and the trade market. That’s helped by the fact that promising prospect Marcelo Mayer could play either second base or third base, opening up the possibilities a bit more.
In a new article on Thursday, MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand writes that the Red Sox still have this one more move to make, adding an infielder.

From the free agent pool, he suggests Eugenio Suarez could be the fit as a “big power bat.” Suarez hit 49 home runs last season, 36 with the Diamondbacks and then 13 more after being traded to the Mariners at the deadline.
Suarez is the top free agent bat remaining, although the fact that he hasn’t signed yet suggests his market may not be as booming as Suarez would like.
Regardless, Suarez’s right-handed power swing would play nicely in Fenway Park.
There are also trade possibilities out there, with Feinsand suggesting Astros third baseman Isaac Paredes (another guy who would pepper the Green Monster) or Cardinals second baseman Brendan Donovan.

The Cubs also seem to have second baseman Nico Hoerner on the block, but Feinsand doesn’t reference him here.
“Either way, Boston remains in need of a starting infielder and seems likely to add one soon,” Feinsand concludes.
So stay tuned Boston fans, there is likely another move still to come.
