The Philadelphia Eagles are known for deep, dark green with black and white accents, plus the occasional “Kelly Green” throwback uniform. But watching their offense these days, you might spot a flash of bright red.
A.J. Brown has been a focal point for years and is one of the NFL’s top receivers, a key weapon for Jalen Hurts.
On the field, he sometimes wears a red armband or other accessories that make him stand out even more.

Why does A.J. Brown wear red?
Brown, the veterans star receiver, has been spotted by fans wearing everything from a red headband to a red arm band, particularly in Week 10 against the Green Bay Packers.

The red accessories are not the first time that Brown has worn a bright color on the field, either. He wore both “highlighter green” and pink cleats in 2023.
While the receiver has not commented specifically on his most recent red bands, he’s previously shared with reporters that he tries to wear distinctive colors so his daughter can spot him on TV when watching games.
In September 2023, Brown was forced to change out of his bright green cleats after team equipment manager informed him he “had to take them off or they were going to pull me out of the game,” per ESPN. At that time, he said his daughter has an easier time finding him on the field with the bright colors.
“She got mad at me: ‘Why did I change the cleats?'” Brown said, per ESPN. “She’ll have to be OK. I’m not trying to come out [of the game].”
Brown also called the NFL’s fines and policies for cleat colors “ridiculous” in 2023.
“Yeah, that rule sucks,” Brown said, per ESPN. “I really tried to bend the rules a little bit, but I think all players should just wear whatever they want to wear. They’re not going to be able to fine everybody in the league. So I think we should start that movement as players.”
The following week in 2023, Brown wore pink cleats – and was permitted to do so, as NFL’s Crucial Catch initiative had begun, meaning players were allowed to wear pink cleats.
Brown has shared at various points that he tries to wear pink, or other bright colors, so his daughter can recognize him.

Brown and his fiancee, Kelsey Riley, have a son, A.J Brown Jr., who was born in 2022, and a daughter, Jersee, who was born in 2020.

In June 2024, Brown was spotted at an Eagles practice wearing his red arm band in front of his daughter and family.
