Kyler Murray returns to Dallas on Monday night.

His Arizona Cardinals are playing at the Cowboys, which means Murray is suiting up in a building that he had tons of success in during both high school and college.

It doesn’t shape up to be the ideal homecoming, though.

Murray, the former No. 1 overall pick, isn’t set to start for the Cardinals.

Is Kyler Murray playing today?

Kyler Murray is not going to start Monday night. As he recovers from injury, Murray will cede starting duties to Jacoby Brissett.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported this about Murray, though: “Kyler Murray is making progress from his foot sprain, and could have a role Monday night, but Brissett will start.”

Those words “could have a role” are very unusual.

Does he just mean Murray is healthy enough to be the backup? Or is that implying an actual on-field role in certain formations or situations?

Murray hasn’t played great this year, and Brissett has looked just fine, but the Cardinals wouldn’t actually hold Murray out in favor of Brissett if Kyler was healthy, would they?

We’ll have to wait and see what this might actually mean on Monday night.

The QB situation in Arizona is certainly more unsettled than the Cardinals would like.
