The Chicago Bears went on the road to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9 of the NFL season. The Bears appeared to be cruising to a win, but their defense fell apart in the final two minutes.
The Bears’ defense did everything they could to lose the game, but the Bengals’ defense, which has been horrendous all season, outdid itself by allowing a 58-yard game-winning score. The last few minutes of the game were all over the place. Cincinnati had a touchdown and a two-point conversion, then needed to recover an onside kick. The Bengals recovered it, scored again and gave the Bears less than a minute to get a field goal or better. Somehow, Chicago pulled it off.

Inside Bears’ comeback win
DJ Moore has 17-yard rushing TD with 4:53 left
Moore took a carry to the left and dove for the pylon. He was ruled short. It looked like he may have fumbled, and Cincinnati challenged that he did. The review showed that not only did the wide receiver not fumble out of the back of the endzone, but the ball crossed the plane of the endzone before he went down, and it was ruled a score.

Flacco throws interception with 2:46 left
Flacco and the Bengals drove down the field and were in the redzone. At the time, Cincinnati was down 41-27. Flacco was picked off, but it wasn’t taken back for six as initially thought as the defender was touched down by contact. That ruling ended up being huge in the moment.

Caleb Williams hits Colston Loveland for 58-yard touchdown with 17 seconds left
It looked like the Bears’ defense was going to be criticized all week for the meltdown they showed on the field. Chicago’s offense took the field with 54 seconds left in the game. Williams started the drive with back-to-back incompletions. He then had a 14-yard run, and Chicago used its last timeout.
The Bears were just trying to get into Cairo Santos’ field goal range to try to win it with a kick. Instead, Williams wound up finding rookie tight end Colston Loveland who dodged would-be tacklers and ran all the way to the endzone for the 58-yard score.
