The New York City Marathon will once again bring thousands of runners to the streets of one of the biggest cities in the world for one of the biggest races in the world.
The 26.2-mile race ventures through all five of New York City’s boroughs on Sunday, Nov. 2.
Last year’s race of 55,646 finishers set the record for the largest marathon in history. This year’s will likely feature another 50,000-plus participants, including some of the best competition runners in the world.
The 2025 professional field features six past New York City Marathon champions.
Returning winners include Albert Korir and Abdi Nageeye on the men’s side, along with Sharon Lokedi, Hellen Obiri, Sheila Chepkirui, and Stephanie Bruce among the women.

How to watch the New York City Marathon 2025
In New York, WABC will have wall-to-wall coverage beginning at 7 a.m. ET. The first three and a half hours of the marathon, featuring the elite men’s and women’s runners, will air nationally on ESPN2. ABC will then air a two-hour show beginning at 3 p.m. with additional coverage.
Fans can watch stream the 2025 New York City Marathon live on the ESPN app or ESPN+ on Sunday, Nov. 2. Those without cable can tune in to the ESPN2 and ABC coverage through Fubo, which offers a free trial to new users.

New York City Marathon prize money
The total prize pool for the 2025 New York City Marathon is about $900,000. The winner of the men’s and women’s divisions will each earn $100,000. Those who place second through 10th-place receive between $60,000 and $2,000 each.
New York City Marathon race route
The marathon covers all five boroughs of New York City, starting in Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island.
Runners will travel from Staten Island to Brooklyn to Queens to the Bronx and finally Manhattan. The finish line is on West 67th Street in Central Park.
