The Denver Broncos are one of the hottest teams in football, currently boasting a five-game win streak and a 6-2 record atop the AFC West.
Defensively, they’re a top team in the NFL, ranking fifth in EPA per play. But the offense has been inconsistent at times, relying too heavily on second-year quarterback Bo Nix to carry them through rough patches.
If the Broncos are serious about being a Super Bowl contender, they should be looking to load up on offensive talent to be sure their offense is operating at 100% capacity from here on out.
Broncos urged to trade for Saints WR Chris Olave
According to Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report, the Broncos should trade for wide receiver Chris Olave from the New Orleans Saints.
“Bo Nix could definitely use another weapon, and Olave brings talent and upside to that receiving corps without likely commanding a lot considering the Saints’ situation,” wrote Gagnon.
“These teams could also come together in a deal for New Orleans cornerback Alontae Taylor, considering the recent pectoral injury suffered by Pat Surtain.”
Because New Orleans picked up Olave’s fifth-year option, the former Ohio State wideout is under contract for one more season past this one, and that could factor into his price.
The 25-year-old has been a productive player in his four-year NFL career, appearing in 47 games and racking up 3068 yards on 243 receptions.
Olave would be the perfect addition to the Broncos’ receiving core, complementing Courtland Sutton in the passing game while also taking away some attention from other weapons in Denver’s offense.
It would likely take a Day 2 selection to pry the former Buckeye away from New Orleans, but for a team like Denver, which will be picking in the back end of the round, it doesn’t seem all that steep a price.
