The New York Jets pulled off the upset win in Week 8 over the Cincinnati Bengals, securing Aaron Glenn’s first victory as the Jets’ head coach.

Amid the win, the Jets saw cornerbacks Brandon Stephens and Jarvis Brownlee continue to thrive in their new roles. With Sauce Gardner coming back after the bye, the Jets’ secondary has a case to be the best in the league.

However, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, during the wild comeback 39-38 win, the Jets lost standout safety Andre Cisco to injury, and in the days since, it’s been confirmed that Cisco has a pectoral tear.

Jets’ Andre Cisco suffers pectoral tear that jeopardizes 2025 season

“Jets safety Andre Cisco has a pectoral tear that needs repair, per source,” Fowler reports. “Cisco, who signed with New York in free agency, suffered the injury Sunday vs. Cincinnati.”

This past offseason, Cisco signed a one-year contract worth $8.5 million with the Jets. While it was a short contract, he was still a starter for the Jets’ secondary. But now, the Jets will have to turn to Isaiah Oliver, Malachi Moore, and Tony Adams as the safety rotation.

The former Jacksonville Jaguars safety of the last four years had signed with the Jets on a one-year deal, and has started all eight games this season. But now, with his pectoral tear, the Jets need to find a new safety to replace Cisco.

In his eight starts with the Jets, Cisco had one pass defended, one fumble recovery, 41 tackles, one tackle for loss, and in coverage, on 16 targets, he’s allowed 120 yards and three touchdowns for a 130.2 passer rating against.

While he wasn’t at his best for the Jets in coverage, he was still a core starter for Glenn’s defense this season. Now, the Jets will have the bye week to figure out their safety room and determine if there are any players worth adding to the room for the rest of the year.
