Chelsea are no strangers to splashing the cash on promising young talent in the Todd Boehly era.
For instance, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo joined for more than £100m each in consecutive transfer windows.
Now, Chelsea have been given the opportunity to splurge again as they have identified a Real Madrid star as a potential target, who is about to enter the final year of his contract.
Vinicius Jr was substituted off in the El Clásico against Barcelona at the weekend and stormed off the pitch before engaging in a heated exchange with Madrid manager Xabi Alonso.
The Blues are said to be keeping a close eye on the player’s situation at Real Madrid, as recent reports have emerged that he is unhappy in the Spanish capital.
If this is the case, Enzo Maresca’s team is set to swoop in for the Brazilian star and offer him a way out of the Santiago Bernabeu in the next summer transfer window.

Chelsea set their sights on Vinicius Jr
According to the Chelsea Chronicle, Vincius has been told that he will be sold in the summer if he does not sign a new contract by then.

Transfer expert Greame Bailey was quoted as saying, “Let’s not forget Vini Jr. It’s not a new thing that he’s unsettled there. He’s only got 18 months left on his deal, and Real Madrid have told him that if he doesn’t sign a new deal by next summer, he’ll be sold.
“There’s only a handful of clubs who can get him. I’m told he doesn’t want to go to Saudi Arabia. In England, there’s only Chelsea, City and Liverpool.
“I know these types of deals are not ones that Chelsea tend to do at the moment, but when someone like that comes on the market, I don’t think that Todd Boehly would turn his nose up at that because he’s a marquee, generational player. Imagine the commercial gains you can get off Vini Jr.”
“Come next summer, if he’s only got a year left, we’re not talking £200m. I wouldn’t necessarily rule Chelsea out of that equation. I think he’ll sign a new deal, but he’s clearly not happy.
“Keep an eye on Vini Jr. Chelsea are one of the ones who have looked at him before, and he’s on their radar.”
If the Brazilian star does decide to leave Real Madrid, Chelsea should leave no stone unturned in their attempts to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
