Pitching often rules in October, but some hitters just see the ball better than others when everything is on the line.
The all-time postseason hits leaderboard is littered with legendary names, from Derek Jeter to Manny Ramirez and Chipper Jones. While they made their mark on October, none reached the 25-hit milestone in one single postseason.
Seven players have recorded at least 25 hits in one postseason, including six in the 21st century due in part to an expanded postseason format that prevents more opportunities. Even with some extra games sprinkled in, these players dominated when it mattered.
Here is a look at the players who recorded the most hits in one postseason, from Randy Arozarena to Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

1. Randy Arozarena, Rays: 29 (2020)

Arozarena’s otherworldly postseason run with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2020 included a three-game wild-card series due to MLB’s expanded playoffs during the pandemic-shortened season, but there is no denying how dominant he was.
A rookie at the time with little regular season experience, Arozarena set new records for home runs (10) and hits in one postseason while helping lift the Rays to the World Series. He hit .377 with a 1.273 OPS over 20 games, driving in 14 runs.
While the Rays’ run didn’t end with a championship, Arozarena cemented himself as an October great with his relentless production at the plate.

T-2. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Blue Jays: 26 (2025)

Guerrero has a tendency to be streaky in the regular season, at least from a power standpoint, but he has done it all for the Toronto Blue Jays in his first extended postseason run.
The former No. 1 prospect came out firing, hitting a home run in each of Toronto’s first three playoff games in 2025, and he recorded nine multi-hit games over his first 15 contests. For a player who simply did not perform during his first three postseason appearances, Guerrero proved in 2025 why he is worthy of the massive 14-year contract he signed with the Blue Jays.
Notably, Guerrero rocketed up the hit leaderboard despite the Blue Jays not playing in the wild-card round and jumping straight to the ALDS.

T-2. Pablo Sandoval, Giants: 26 (2014)

Sandoval’s career might be defined by his three-home run performance in Game 1 of the 2012 World Series, but he enjoyed quite an encore two years later when the San Francisco Giants won their third of three championships in the early 2010s.
The “Panda” hit .366 over 17 games, putting 26 hits on the board and recording seven doubles. Sandoval actually didn’t hit a home run during the Giants’ run, a shocking fact after his power was such a major part of their 2012 run, but he just kept getting on base for a San Francisco team that outlasted the Kansas City Royals in seven games in the World Series.
Sandoval recorded 50 hits between the 2012 and 2014 postseasons alone.

T-4. Jose Altuve, Astros: 25 (2019)

The Houston Astros couldn’t finish the job in 2019, falling in seven games to the Washington Nationals in the World Series, but Jose Altuve was hardly the one to blame.
One of the all-time great postseason performers, Altuve hit .329 with a .971 OPS over 18 playoff games in 2019, hitting five home runs and recording 25 total hits. None of those 25 hits were more memorable than his walk-off home run off Aroldis Chapman to send the Astros to the World Series.
After hitting .365 over his first 15 games, however, Altuve was just 2-for-13 over the final three games of the World Series as the Astros dropped Games 6 and 7 at home to come up one win short of their goal.

T-4. David Freese, Cardinals: 25 (2011)

David Freese’s “We will see you tomorrow night” moment in Game 6 of the 2011 World Series defined his career, but that game wasn’t an aberration for the St. Louis Cardinals‘ third baseman.
Freese had one of the all-time great postseasons in 2011, batting .397 with five home runs and 21 RBI over 18 games. He posted a 1.258 OPS, and his 21 RBI set a new record that would be broken by Adolis Garcia in 2023.
It’s fair to say the Cardinals would not have won the World Series without Freese in 2011, and he has a special place in franchise history for that reason alone.

T-4. Darin Erstad, Angels: 25 (2002)

Darin Erstad’s first postseason was a tremendous one, as he hit .352 with 25 hits and an .683 OPS for the Los Angeles Angels as they marched to their first and only championship in franchise history.
The former No. 1 overall pick was lethal over the first two rounds of the postseason, batting .390, and he would have only one hitless game during the Angels’ entire run. Erstad’s home run in Game 6 of the World Series helped the Angels complete a comeback to force a decisive Game 7, which they would win.

T-4. Marquis Grissom, Braves: 25 (1995)

Known more for his glove than his bat at the time, Marquis Grissom became a star of the Atlanta Braves‘ only championship run of an otherwise dominant decade before the turn of the century.
Grissom hit .385 with a 1.012 OPS, blasting three home runs and recording 25 hits in just 14 games. His five-hit game helped the Braves close out the Colorado Rockies in Game 4 of the NLDS, and he recorded at least one hit in all six games of the World Series.
A year later, Grissom would come back and notch 23 hits during a playoff run that ended in a World Series loss to the New York Yankees.
