WNBA star Sophie Cunningham is a self-proclaimed animal lover. However, there is one dog breed that she could do without – a Chihuahua.
It’s unclear where her distaste for the toy dog breed came from, however, something has clearly set her off, as the Indiana Fever star went off in an unfiltered rant about Chihuahuas on social media on Tuesday.
In a car confessions-style video posted to her Instagram Stories, Cunningham said, “I am a dog lover, animal lover through and through. Like love animals more than I love people, but I think Chihuahuas are maybe the worst creation that God ever invented.”
“They’re rats, and they’re annoying,” the Indiana Fever star continued.

Sophie Cunningham has also spoken out about the WNBA and it’s leadership
Cunningham has been on a roll in recent weeks, and never seems to shy away from sharing her opinion or defending what she believes in.
She’s even stepped in when the WNBA and its commissioner, Cathy Engelbert, were criticized over its leadership.
“I’m just tired of our league,” the Indiana Fever star said earlier this month. “Our leadership from top to bottom needs to be held accountable. I think there are a lot of people in positions of power in the WNBA who might be really great business people, but they don’t know s–t about basketball.”
She also took a shot at Engelbert by name, saying, “I think it’s pretty shameful that she always makes it about her, Cathy, when it should have nothing to do with her.”
Cunningham, who’s established herself as the Fever’s enforcer, is currently continuing her recovery and rehab from an MCL knee injury she sustained last season. The 29-year-old guard was limited to 30 games last season, averaging 8.6 points and 3.5 rebounds.
