Yoshinobu Yamamoto threw a 105-pitch complete game two days ago.
Forgive everyone if that feels like five years ago.
The Los Angeles Dodgers‘ Japanese right-hander has volunteered himself to pitch again, two days later.
In the 18th inning of World Series Game 3, Yamamoto went down to the bullpen and started getting warm.

Why is Yoshinobu Yamamoto preparing to pitch?
Yamamoto offered a few innings earlier, according to Fox’s Tom Verducci, to pitch in this game that would never end.
And as the game continued, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts likely felt he had no choice.
It would be either Yamamoto, go to a position player, or burn Shohei Ohtani or Blake Snell at an inopportune time in relation to the pitching rotation for the rest of the World Series.

Sure, Yamamoto just completed World Series Game 2, and this is just Game 3.
But pitchers usually throw a couple days after their start, albeit not at this intensity.
If Yamamoto gets in, it’s historic.
And since this game is historic, maybe it’ll happen.
