It’s pretty subtle, but once you see it, you can’t stop seeing it.
Some of the Los Angeles Dodgers‘ pitchers have the number 51 on the side of their baseball hats.
It’s not something they’ve had there before the World Series.
But there’s a good reason for it.
Why do some Dodgers’ pitchers have 51 on their hats?
The No. 51 is Alex Vesia’s uniform number.
Vesia is a left-handed pitcher who was supposed to be on the Dodgers’ roster this World Series as a reliever.
But Vesia is away from the team on a leave for a personal matter.”It’s with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife Kayla navigate a deeply personal family matter. The entire Dodger organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family, and we will provide an update at a later date,” a Dodgers statement read before the World Series.
Here’s how it looked on Justin Wrobleski’s hat:

The Dodgers are missing Vesia, for sure, but all their thoughts are with him and his family.
