The Brooklyn Nets are listing three of their newly acquired rookies as OUT ahead of tonight’s matchup against the Houston Rockets, designating Danny Wolf and Drake Powell to the G League, while Egor Demin remains sidelined with left plantar fasciitis.
Powell has made just one appearance for Brooklyn this season, scoring two points and grabbing two rebounds across seven minutes in the team’s season-opening blowout loss to the Charlotte Hornets. Wolf has yet to make his 2025-2026 debut after injuring his ankle during warmups, keeping him sidelined for all three of the team’s games. Demin remains the only player out of the trio to appear in every contest thus far, averaging 8.7 points and 5.0 rebounds on 50% shooting from both the field and beyond the arc.
Brooklyn is still searching for its first win of the season, starting 0-3 after a 107-118 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday evening. Despite Cam Thomas dropping 40 points, the Nets couldn’t overcome Victor Wembanyama and rookie standout Dylan Harper, both of whom have impressed in their respective roles early on.
While the Nets haven’t entered the year with major expectations, the focus remains on developing their young core as the future faces of the franchise. Demin has been a bright spot through the team’s early struggles, displaying his deep shooting range and unique athleticism. As for Powell, the 20-year-old guard isn’t projected to receive significant playing time over fellow rookie Ben Saraf, but should use his G League stint as an opportunity to grow.
The Nets now head on the road to face the Rockets, who are also seeking their first victory of the season. Regardless of records, Houston remains a legitimate threat in the Western Conference, with Kevin Durant looking to exact revenge on his former team. Durant spent just over three seasons with Brooklyn before being traded to the Phoenix Suns in 2023.
