The Chicago Bears took a trip out East to face the Baltimore Ravens in a huge matchup to determine if they’re going to be top contenders in the NFC North or not.

While they came out with a loss, dropping Week 8’s matchup 30-16, the worst of the Bears’ week came the day after their tough loss.

According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team on Twitter/X, the Bears’ rookie second-round pick Shemar Turner was diagnosed with a torn ACL, ending his rookie campaign just seven weeks in.

Bears’ Shemar Turner suffers torn ACL, out for the rest of the season

Losing any player to a torn ACL is always a brutal blow, but for Turner, it’s an even more upsetting result. The rookie defensive lineman hadn’t had much of a chance to get going in the NFL, playing just 24 percent of the snaps on defense.

But now, after just 74 total defensive snaps through eight weeks, Turner will be permanently on the sideline for the remainder of the season, ending a rookie campaign well short of the goal.

While Turner, at 22 years old, might not have been an instant impact player along the defensive line, having him in the lineup would’ve helped the Bears, and at worst, given the rookie a chance to develop.

Unfortunately, not only will Turner miss the rest of the season, but he will now have to spend his offseason and likely the beginning of the 2026 season recovering from this torn ACL.

While players come back from such an injury often, it’s still a terrible blow for Turner and the Bears. Through eight weeks this season, Turner had six tackles, all solo, and two tackles for loss.

He only suited up in five games before suffering a season-ending injury. The second-round pick, at 62nd overall, is now on the road to recovery to get back on the field for Chicago in 2026 after a lost rookie season.
