Chelsea slumped to an unexpected defeat at the hands of Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Though Alejandro Garnacho gave the home side an early lead in the first half, the Blues looked lacklustre on the day and were made to pay the price as the Black Cats completed a comeback win.
In the process, Chelsea squandered a chance to move up to second place in the Premier League table and currently find themselves in seventh spot instead.
Chelsea’s performance has drawn criticism from a number of fans and experts around the globe.
For instance, former Arsenal star Paul Merson has slammed Chelsea for their performance against Sunderland.
While several players put in below-par performances on the day, Merson has singled out one star in particular.

Paul Merson slams Chelsea and Joao Pedro
Paul Merson was not impressed by what he saw from Chelsea against Sunderland on Saturday and decided to speak his mind about it.
His criticism included a small dig at Blues attacker Joao Pedro, claiming he “looked lost” during the league contest.
Merson told Sky Sports, “Chelsea ran out of ideas. They had winger after winger, but half of them don’t go past anyone. Pedro looked lost as a number ten. They struggled and were pretty poor.”

Merson was not the only one who was critical of Chelsea’s performance on Saturday, as Jason Cundy and Micah Richards also sang a similar song.
According to Richards, Pedro is best as a number 10, so it’s pretty concerning to see him ghosting through a game at home to a newly-promoted team, even though they look like a very impressive outfit.
