JUMP TO:
The 2025 World Series got off to a fiery start on Friday night, with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays jousting beneath the glimmering Rogers Centre starlight in Toronto.
When the dust settled, it was the Blue Jays on top; John Schneider’s side claimed a 11-4 win over its adversary, fueled by multiple player heroics in a nine-run sixth inning.
Game 2 figures to take on a different disposition to its predecessor. With Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Kevin Gausman on the mound, runs are likely to be at a premium. There is still plenty of fireworks contained within the Blue Jays’ and Dodgers’ ranks — Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Shohei Ohtani (who had his first World Series home run on Friday night), Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts are perennial MVP candidates for a reason. But Gausman and Yamamoto possess glistening arms. Although both are liable for a blow-up start or two, they’re as good as it gets when they’re fit and firing. Expect a dog fight in this one.
