The Michigan Wolverines got a nice bounceback win a week ago over Washington.
They did it despite playing without star running back Justice Haynes due to injury.
Now this Saturday, the Wolverines hit the road to play at rivals Michigan State in East Lansing.
Haynes’ availability is again in question.
The good news: Haynes went through a full warmup before the UW game before being held out. Another week on, Haynes’ chances are likely improved.

Is Justice Haynes playing today?
Justice Haynes is still not confirmed as playing Saturday against Michigan State as he attempts to return from injury.
Last week, coach Sherone Moore said Haynes had been “close” to playing against Washington before being held out.
MLive’s Ryan Zuke broke the situation down like this:
“Despite being a full participant in warmups against Washington, Haynes was held out. Head coach Sherrone Moore said he was ‘close’ to playing in the game after practicing Thursday and Friday last week, but the coaches took a cautious approach. However, with another week to heal up, Haynes appears to have a better chance of playing against MSU. Even if he does play, though, he might not see as heavy of a workload. Marshall had a strong game in his first start of 2025, rushing for a career-high 133 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. True freshman Jasper Parker was the team’s No. 2 running back last week, and we could see more of him if Haynes isn’t able to go.”
Michigan has a great chance of cruising past a struggling Michigan State team regardless of if Haynes plays.
But it’d be a good sign for the season moving forward if Haynes is able to get back on the field.
