Roberto Di Matteo is a manager who will always be a part of Chelsea’s folklore, having guided the team to their first Champions League triumph in 2012.
During his successful stint as the Blues’ manager, the Italian worked with various club legends, including the likes of Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, and John Terry.
Even after his stint as Chelsea manager came to an end, Di Matteo has kept a close eye on the players at Stamford Bridge and predicted big things for a player who has just joined the club.
Estevao Willian is enjoying a successful debut season at the club, having just made the move from Palmeiras in Brazil.
Not only has the Brazilian impressed everyone with his performances, but he has also managed to score in the Premier League and the Champions League.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the former Chelsea manager is singing Estevao Willian’s praises and has backed him to go and achieve big things in the future.

Roberto Di Matteo shares his verdict on Estevao Willian
While Estevao Willian has managed to impress Roberto Di Matteo with his performances on the wing so far, the former Chelsea manager believes that the youngster’s future lies in a more central role on the pitch.

When asked how good Estevao can become, Di Matteo told GOAL, “Let’s not overwhelm him with pressure, but he’s going to be a top player! You can see that he is so advanced in his football development.
“I saw him before the international break and he looks like a 15-year-old! You look at him and think ‘you are playing already?’ Amazing skills, technically, he’s fast, unpredictable, can go outside and inside. Very good attitude. He’s quite advanced for his age. Ancelotti loves him in the Brazil national team.
“He’s got a very good family around him as well, his parents have moved over with him. He’s got good management around him so I have no doubt that he’s going to grow and become a top player, a world top player.”
On the back of Estevao Willian’s impressive performances so far, he is making it increasingly difficult for Enzo Maresca to leave him out of the starting lineup.
Having made himself a regular starter for Brazil of late, there is no reason why he cannot do the same at the club level as well.
