CHANDLER, Arizona, Oct. 24 — So far it’s the Roye Oliver III show in Chandler, Arizona. Oliver has three touchdowns – a 59-yard punt return, a 90-yard reception, and a 46-yard reception as Hamilton leads Basha in the fourth quarter, 28-12.
PREVIEW
Two of Chandler, Arizona’s top programs will face off Friday night in the Grand Canyon State. They also happen to be the top two teams in the state.
While the state’s No. 1 Basha Bears made noise early in the season with an upset of then nationally-ranked Orange Lutheran of California on September 5, the state’s No. 2 Hamilton Huskies have mostly floated quietly under the radar. But both teams have compiled identical 7-0 records on the way to their annual rivalry game, and the winner will make an impact on the national scene.
Basha, in fact, is already ranked nationally, entering this game at No. 17 in The Sporting News High School Football Top 25. Hamilton, meanwhile, is No. 22 in The NEXT 25 “bubble” rankings, a list of teams looking to break into the national Top 25.
