It centered around Victor Wembanyama, as it almost always will. He was brilliant in a 40-point night that led to a blowout of the Dallas Mavericks.
The Spurs were so good that it was easy to forget that they were missing one of their best players.
De’Aaron Fox wasn’t out there, and you wouldn’t have known it, but imagine when he’s back — the Spurs could be really special.

Why isn’t De’Aaron Fox playing tonight?
De’Aaron Fox isn’t playing because he’s out with an injury.
Fox is dealing with a hamstring injury that he sustained during training camp.
With Fox out, the No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper got a lot more playing time alongside Stephon Castle in the backcourt. It also left open more minutes for Devin Vassell.

When is De’Aaron Fox coming back?
The Spurs haven’t announced a great Fox timeline for return.
A strained right hamstring is the kind of injury that could take a while for a speedy point guard like Fox to be back at full strength from.
For now, the Spurs will have to deal with playing without Fox.
