Playing in the World Series is obviously a great honor, but the same can be said for umpiring it.
Major League Baseball tries to make the World Series the premier event of the season, which includes sending its best umpires to the final series of the year. The league uses seven umpires throughout the seven-game series, with each umpire rotating around the diamond for the duration of the World Series and one taking a day off each game.
Umpires are also able to earn bonuses for their work in the World Series, capping off their season on a strong note. Here’s a look at how much umpires make for their World Series work.

How much do MLB umpires get paid for World Series games?
MLB umpires make different salaries depending on their experience level. According to Front Office Sports, umpires make anywhere between $150,000 and $450,000, with the average umpire salary landing at $300,000.
Umpires who are chosen to work the World Series then earn a $20,000 bonus, plus expenses. That is a step up from umpires’ playoff bonuses, which is set at $17,500 plus expenses.
Those numbers are flat bonuses, meaning the umpires get paid the same overall number regardless of how long the series goes.

The umpires will rotate around the diamond over the course of the series, as each umpire will get a chance to man each spot if the series goes seven games. Of the seven umpires in this World Series, only three have worked in a previous World Series.
Mark Wegner is not only the crew chief for this World Series, he is also the most experienced umpire in this group, as he’s worked in 23 different playoff series, including two World Series.
