The Los Angeles Dodgers have a great omen on their side in the 2025 World Series.

His name: Will Smith.

That’s because a guy named Will Smith has won each of the past five World Series.

There’s only one Will Smith in this series, the Dodgers’ catcher, so advantage L.A.

The catching Smith was there in 2020 when the Dodgers won the World Series.

Each of the next three seasons, the lefty reliever Will Smith stepped in.

The southpaw Smith won in 2021 with the Braves, 2022 with the Astros and 2023 with the Rangers. That’s quite the individual run of switching teams and still winning.

And then in 2024, it was the catching Smith back with the Dodgers for another title.

This Smith and the Dodgers are now going for the repeat, as well as their third title in six years.

Of course, it probably has nothing actually to do with having a Will Smith. But sports have the best coincidences and historical overlap sometimes.

Smith maintains a veteran hand in leading the pitching staff for the Dodgers, and he’s still a strong hitter, having flirted with .300 most of the season before falling a bit under.

You can’t replace experience in October, and Smith has been there, done that. He’s got a reputation to uphold at this point.
