Florida State coach Mike Norvell said Wednesday the Seminoles “are going to get it right” as speculation about his long-term future came following a 3-4 start to the season.

In his first public comments since FSU athletic director Michael Alford said there will be a full program evaluation at season’s end, Norvell acknowledged that the recent results “have not been good enough.”

Florida State’s 20-13 loss to Stanford this week was a low point in a roller coaster season. The Seminoles’ ninth straight defeat in ACC play going back to last year was a stinger after opening the season with a signature win over Alabama.

FSU’s year has unraveled and now in danger of another collapse following a 2-10 campaign last year. It’s hard to believe Norvell and the Noles are less than two years removed from a perfect 12-0 season and ACC title in 2023.

“I know and understand the expectations. There’s no higher expectation than what I have,” Norvell said via ESPN. “I know it’s not been good enough.”

The Seminoles are in the midst of a bye week, which couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. Four straight losses coming by a total of 24 points will give the team a few details to study as to what went wrong.

“The team, the staff, we’re working extremely hard to get it right. We are going to get it right,” Norvell added.

If the Seminoles chose to part ways with Norvell after the season, he would be owed $54 million, which would be the second-most ever behind former FSU coach Jimbo Fisher, who cashed out with $77 million from Texas A&M in 2023.

Florida State hosts Wake Forest on Nov. 1 (7:30 p.m. ET, ACC Network).
