The Seattle Mariners were a joy to watch this season. The scrappy bunch made their way to the ALCS, but were no match for the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays were able to edge out the Mariners four games to three in what was an exciting series. Now, the club’s attention turns to its future and how it can take the next step to reach the World Series.
They have some key players that are heading to the open market, like Josh Naylor, Eugenio Suarez, Donovan Solano, Caleb Ferguson, and Luke Jackson. In contrast, Jorge Polanco and Mitch Garver have options for the 2026 season. However, the team still has its two bright stars in Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez to keep them grounded if they are to lose any of those players.
MLB analyst makes bold claim about Mariners following ALCS exit
There is no denying that the Mariners have a strong core, but they also have some exciting prospects waiting in the wings. ESPN’s Jeff Passan believes their mix of core talent and prospects will continue to allow them to be contenders for the future, via the Brock and Salk show.
“There are going to be some guys who succeed and there are going to be some guys who fail, but the sheer number of really good prospects that the Mariners have led me to believe that they’re going to be in this position again.”
Colt Emerson, the club’s top prospect, is set to debut next season. He could be joined by Lazaro Montes, a hard-hitting outfielder with a sweet left-handed swing. These will be two to watch out for in 2026.
