You hear that? Yeah, me neither. The critics of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, and there are a lot of them, are awfully quiet right now.
Prescott is playing like a $60 million APY quarterback, and in fact, his last month, he’s playing like an MVP-caliber quarterback. Four straight games of three or more touchdown passes and no interceptions, while operating the offense at an elite level. Dak is on a heater right now.
While the Cowboys are 3-3-1, Prescott’s performances can’t be ignored, and in truth, he’s played at an elite level for most, if not all, of the 2025 season. Everyone has given Dak his flowers over the past couple of weeks, but now comes perhaps the biggest sign that No. 4 is playing at an elite level.
Stephen A. Smith has given Dak his tick of approval for MVP.
“I have Dak Prescott, right now, as a leading candidate for MVP honors the way he’s playing right now,” Smith said on ESPN’s First Take. “71 percent completions, 270 yards a game, 13 touchdowns, no interceptions, a passer rating of 128 over his last four games, he’s been sensational, no doubt about it, he’s earning his money.”

Dak Prescott right to be an MVP favorite
Are there many quarterbacks playing better than Dak right now?
Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford, and maybe Jared Goff. That’s the list, and you could make the case that Dak has played better than all of them this season as well.
Granted, it is a small sample size, and Dak has been in God mode under Brian Schottenheimer’s watchful eye for the last month. If the defense had been a little better in spots, the 3-3-1 record might be even better.
In truth, Prescott needs to play at this level if the Cowboys are to amount to anything substantial in 2025, and with CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and a good run game with Javonte Williams, there is a real chance this form can continue.
For all the praise Dak has gotten over the last couple of weeks, this one from Stephen A. might mean the most.
