The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly sniffing around for a blockbuster trade, as evidenced by the team reportedly calling the Las Vegas Raiders.

According to former ESPN anchor Trey Wingo, the Cowboys called the Raiders about a possible trade for star edge rusher Maxx Crosby. However, there is no indication if Las Vegas is receptive to such a deal.

Regardless, that rumor should prompt teams like the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions to put in their own calls to see what’s up.

Philly sports one of the worst pass-rushes in the league, and while the return of Brandon Graham should provide a boost, the team lost Za’Darius Smith to an unexpected retirement, so there’s still a significant need there.

Adding to that, securing Crosby and snatching him away from the Cowboys would make such a trade an even bigger win for general manager Howie Roseman and Co.

The 49ers are another team with a massive need along the edge and Crosby is one of the few players in the entire league who could adequately fill it.

Not only is Nick Bosa done for the season, Bryce Huff is now hurt also and could miss a few weeks, at least, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

The Lions don’t have as dire a need as Philadelphia and San Francisco do, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to add an upgrade across from Aidan Hutchinson, with the team relying on Al-Quadin Muhammad currently and an injury-prone Marcus Davenport once he gets back from injured reserve.

Acquiring Crosby would give the Lions the best one-two punch in the NFL along the edge and would greatly improve their Super Bowl chances.

When it comes to compensation, the Raiders would probably be looking for at least a first-round pick. If it does take that much, giving up such valuable draft capital doesn’t hurt as much because Crosby is under contract through 2029.

Again, it isn’t clear if Crosby wants to be traded or if the Raiders will trade him, but if so, expect the Lions, 49ers, Cowboys and Eagles to all get involved.
