Jaxon Smith-Njigba just keeps on getting open.

It’s one of the remarkable things about his start to the 2025 NFL season for the Seattle Seahawks. He’s just so often got a bunch of space between him and his defender.

It’s not because the defense doesn’t want to shut down Seattle’s No. 1 WR. It’s that he’s that good.

It showed again in a Week 7 Monday night win over the Houston Texans.

Smith-Njigba finished Monday Night Football with eight catches for 123 yards and a touchdown.

It’s the third game in a row that JSN had at least 100 receiving yards and a touchdown catch, which sets the new longest such streak in Seahawks history, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

A few other stats noted by Schefter:

  • JSN’s 819 receiving yards lead the NFL and are the most in a seven-game span in Seahawks  history
  • Smith-Njigba has accounted for 46% of Seattle’s receiving yards, the highest rate in the NFL

Smith-Njigba is far and away the NFL’s leading receiver. He’s at 819, and no one else has even reached 700.

The trade away of DK Metcalf really just opened the floor for it to be the Smith-Njigba show all the time. And it’s working incredibly well.

JSN and Sam Darnold have built instant chemistry, and it’s resulting not just in big numbers but in wins.

Seattle had to watch the Mariners lose on Monday night, but at least they’ve got Smith-Njigba at the top of his game.
