The New York Jets remain the NFL’s only winless team after a brutal 13-6 loss to the Carolina Panthers.
The offense was unable to get going, similar to how it’s performed over the last few weeks. Starting quarterback Justin Fields was benched at halftime after completing 50% of his passes for 46 yards.
Tyrod Taylor looked to stabilize things in the second half, but struggled as well. The veteran completed 10 of 22 pass attempts for 126 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions. Considering both quarterbacks’ struggles, who will be the starter next week?
Aaron Glenn on decision-making process for Jets’ Week 7 quarterback
After the game, head coach Aaron Glenn spoke with the media and discussed the thought process for naming the Jets’ starting quarterback next week against the Cincinnati Bengals.
“Well, hopefully I’ll make the call. But there’s a lot of conversation I gotta have with myself. To see what can I do to make sure that we give us a chance to win,” Glenn said.
“And then obviously, I’m gonna talk to the offensive staff and see what their thoughts are also. But we’ll make the right decision. Whatever the decision is, I’m gonna go with it and we’re gonna move forward.”
In all fairness, there doesn’t seem to be a “right move” for New York right now.
Both quarterbacks have struggled throughout the 2025 season. Fields has done nothing but regress since his miraculous Week 1 performance.
Taylor, who started Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has not had any strong outings himself.
The Jets will have to hope whoever ends up under center next week in Cincinnati will be able to help turn things around.
