The Illinois high school girls’ flag football playoffs are down to the final eight after a competitive round of sectional championships.
The quarterfinals, semifinals and finals are up next at Willowbrook Park in Villa Park, Illinois, on Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 18.
Glenbrook South took down Carmel, 27-18, to advance, while Maine South edged Evanston, 7-0, in a defensive battle. Those two teams will face off in the first quarterfinal game.
Edwardsville handled Plainfield Central, 27-8, to move on and face Perspectives, who beat Hillcrest, 25-12.
Kenwood earned a 32-20 win over King and will face Willbrook, who blanked West Aurora, 44-0.
Antioch rolled past Harlem, 32-7, to secure its spot versus Whitney Young, who topped Oak Park-River Forest, 26-12.
The winner of these matches will face off in the two semifinal games early Saturday before the championship match that night. There will also be a third-place game in between.
