Some NFL quarterbacks have gotten off to hot starts to the new season. Josh Allen, Matthew Stafford and Dak Prescott have been among the best signal callers to begin 2025, leading their teams with their arms.

However, that can’t be said of every starter. A few high-profile names have faced turnover issues through Week 7 games, leading to tough records and the threat of being benched in the near future.

The Cleveland Browns‘ Joe Flacco and the New York Giants‘ Russell Wilson were already two names who have fell on their respective depth charts, partially due to interceptions — although Flacco’s trade to the Cincinnati Bengals gave him a new opportunity. But which quarterbacks could be benched due to rough performances next?

Who has the most interceptions this season?

Through Week 7 games, its the Las Vegas RaidersGeno Smith who owns the most interceptions in the NFL with 10. Smith already led the league in picks entering Week 6, including three total in two separate games, before throwing another interception against the Tennessee Titans.

Two Bengals quarterbacks are also among the league leaders in picks. Jake Browning, Cincinnati’s initial replacement for Joe Burrow, ranks second with eight picks, while Flacco, who landed with the Bengals via trade, has six interceptions.

The Miami Dolphins‘ Tua Tagovailoa threw three turnovers in Week 6, pushing his interception total to seven this season. He, the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ Trevor Lawrence, the Panthers‘ Bryce Young, and the Steelers‘ Aaron Rodgers all rank among the league leaders in interceptions.

Here’s a full look at the most interceptions thrown through Week 7:

Player Team Interceptions
Geno Smith Raiders 10
Jake Browning Bengals 8
Tua Tagovailoa Dolphins 7
Joe Flacco Bengals 6
Trevor Lawrence Jaguars 5
Bryce Young Panthers 5
Aaron Rodgers Steelers 5

Geno Smith

Smith has had a brutal stretch to begin 2025 after joining the Raiders in the offseason. The former Seattle Seahawks starter, always known as a gunslinger, has already put up 10 interceptions in six games after Sunday’s win over the Titans.

The Raiders are just 2-4 this season so far, and Smith has totaled seven touchdown passes. Six of Smith’s 10 interceptions have come over just two games: Week 2 against the Chargers (3) and Week 4 against the Chicago Bears (3).

Calls for Kenny Pickett, who Las Vegas acquired before the 2025 season, have increased lately. The longer Smith’s turnover struggles continue, the likelier Pete Carroll will be to bench him.

Jake Browning

Browning was thrust into the Bengals’ QB1 job after Joe Burrow’s early injury, but he didn’t find much success in that role.

In just four games, Browning totaled eight picks, including three against the Jaguars in Week 2 and three more against the Lions in Week 5. That led to him being benched when the team acquired Flacco prior to Week 6.

Tua Tagovailoa

The Dolphins have started 1-5 this season, partially due to Tagovailoa’s struggles. He has had some stronger games, like a three-touchdown performances against the Panthers, but Tagovailoa has also thrown seven picks.

Two of those came in Week 1 against the Colts, then another three came in Week 6 against the Chargers.

Joe Flacco

Flacco quickly lost his starting job in Cleveland. He was never likely to make it through 2025 as the Browns’ QB1, but it took just four games for Kevin Stefanski to give Dillon Gabriel the ball as his veteran dealt with turnover issues.

Flacco threw six interceptions vs. two touchdown passes over four games, including two turnovers against the Bengals and the Lions. He was then dealt to the Bengals, hoping to turn his season around in an environment where he’s needed.

Trevor Lawrence

Unlike some of the other quarterbacks on the interceptions leaderboard, Lawrence’s team has succeeded despite his struggles. Jacksonville is 3-2 through five games, yet Lawrence has a completion percentage hovering around 60 percent and five picks.

Lawrence threw two interceptions against the Bengals in Week 2.

MORE NFL NEWS:

Bryce Young

Young threw 19 interceptions over his first two NFL seasons, and they’ve started to haunt him again in 2025. He threw two picks in Week 1, then his latest came in a Week 6 win over the Cowboys. Young also had an interception against the Dolphins in Week 5.

Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers was off to a relatively clean start to his age 41 season in Pittsburgh, but after entering Week 7 with three interceptions, he threw two more against the Bengals in a loss.
