For a moment, the Detroit Tigers appeared to have opened up a 2-1 lead on the Cleveland Guardians.
But then a replay overturn changed everything. An out was called to end an inning, and a run came off the board.
Through three and a half innings in Cleveland, it was 1-1, not 2-1.

Why did the Tigers lose a run?
The Detroit Tigers had the bases loaded with two outs in the top of the fourth when Javier Baez hit a single to centerfield.
Guardians rookie centerfielder Chase DeLauter chose to come up throwing to third and not to home.
The runner from third crossed the plate easily, and Zach McKinstry was ruled safe sliding into third on the DeLauter throw, which meant the second run scored.
Except upon replay review, the umpires deemed McKinstry had been tagged out by Jose Ramirez before reaching third base.
And when they stitched the camera angles together, they saw that at the time of the tag out, the second run hadn’t made it home.
So Detroit lost that run and the inning was over.
It was the correct call, by the visuals. But it was quite the swing of momentum from a 2-1 lead and an inning still alive to a tie game and an inning over.
