Brock Purdy has been out the last two weeks dealing with a plethora of injuries. Purdy sustained both a toe and left shoulder issue in Week 1 that has kept him sidelined.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan reported that Purdy was progressing towards a return and offered a new update Friday for his fantasy football managers.

Is Brock Purdy playing in Week 4?

Purdy has been removed from the injury report ahead of Week 4 and will start against the Jags. This will be the first action Purdy gets since Week 1 against Seattle.

Purdy played the full game in Week 1, but afterwards was placed on the injury report.

After a week of limited practices, Purdy participated in full on Friday. He will now take back the QB1 job from Mac Jones, who went 2-0 in Purdy’s absence.

Brock Purdy Week 4 fantasy outlook vs. Jags

Purdy is certainly startable, but it is unknown what his limitations will be against the Jags. When fully healthy, we saw Purdy provide a real threat on the ground. This will be something to monitor with the toe injury.

The Jags have not been pushed around by the QB position either. They ranked 12th in allowed fantasy points per game to the position through the first 3 weeks. Granted, the Jags faced the Texans, Bengals (without Burrow), and the Panthers, so nothing too crazy — and Purdy went off on them last time they played (Week 10 of 2023):

Of course, much has changed since then, including the injured and departing 49ers weapons, and the Jags’ pass rush is much better now.

Again, Purdy is worth a lineup spot, but by no means is he a must-start. There are other suitable options on the Week 4 waiver wire available for a stream.

49ers Week 4 fantasy outlook vs Jags with Brock Purdy back

Christian McCaffrey was in your lineups with or without Brock Purdy back. CMC’s targets will not go down either, as in Week 1 with Purdy, he was still targeted 10 times.

As long as he’s active as expected, Ricky Pearsall (knee) does become more valuable, especially if Jauan Jennings does not play in Week 4. Jennings is listed as questionable for Week 4 after logging a lone limited practice on Friday. With no Jennings and still no George Kittle, Pearsall becomes a must-start with his QB1 back as long as he’s playing.
