The Los Angeles Clippers made two fun signings at the back half of their training camp roster on Saturday.
The new faces: John Poulakidas and Jahmyl Telfort. Spotrac’s Keith Smith reported the signing news.
Poulakidas heads to Hollywood after being one of the best players in recent Ivy League memory.
In Poulakidas’ final season at Yale in 2024-25, he led the league in scoring at 19.4 points per game. He knocked down 40.8% of his 3-pointers. He also made 89.7% of his foul shots.
Poulakidas averaged 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 0.6 steals per game for the Bulldogs, as well.
At 6-foot-5 and with shooting touch, Poulakidas has a chance to stick around.
Telfort is also entering his first professional season. He began his college career at Northeastern before wrapping it up at Butler.
Telfort is a huge guard, coming in at 6-foot-7 and 220 pounds.
He was an All-Big East selection in 2024-25. Telfort put up averages of 16.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game. He also made 36.1% of his 3-pointers.
These feel like two intelligent signings for the Clippers, who wouldn’t mind keeping these guys around in the G League, either.
Poulakidas and Telfort are both older rookies after lengthy college careers, but that often means they are ready to contribute right away if called upon.
It’s never a bad idea to get scoring, shooting and playmaking talent into an organization, even with undrafted players like these two.
