Some Pittsburgh Steelers might have a desire to go sightseeing during their brief stay in Dublin, Ireland, but wide receiver DK Metcalf is not one of them.
The Steelers landed in Dublin on Friday and will take on the Minnesota Vikings in the first-ever regular-season NFL game in Ireland on Sunday.
Earlier in the day, quarterback Aaron Rodgers lamented the fact that he didn’t have more time to check out Ireland thanks to the Steelers leaving on Thursday.
“I wish, you know, it is what it is, but if the schedule had been a little different, If I could have chosen, maybe we get over on Monday, Tuesday is a day off, get to get out, see some things,” Rodgers said.
But Metcalf sees things very differently.
As he told reporters, he has no interest in sightseeing and is instead just focused on playing football.
“I’m not trying to explore. I’m here for the football game. I’ll see everything on the flight in, flight out and drive to the stadium. I’m here to play football,” Metcalf revealed with a smile.
Metcalf’s Steelers career got off to a strong start in Week 1, when he finished with four catches for 83 yards. In the two weeks since then, Metcalf has just 52 yards, although he has scored a touchdown in each contest.
“We have to get our pass catchers involved more,” Metcalf said earlier in the week.
Metcalf and the Steelers will square off with the Vikings on Sunday, with the stateside time for kickoff being 9:30 a.m. ET.
