The Pittsburgh Steelers are off to a 2-1 start this season, and they are looking to make the most of quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ likely final year in the league. Rodgers has been extremely vocal about where he stands regarding his future, and retirement seems to be on the horizon.
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure this is it,” said Rodgers. “That’s why we just did a one-year deal. Steelers didn’t need to put any extra years on that or anything, so this was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I’ve had.”
The Steelers have several options to consider for the future at the QB position. Before Rodgers signed, it seemed like Will Howard could come into camp and win the starting job outright.
“To be quite honest with you, I don’t know that I meant that specifically for him or the circumstance,” Tomlin said. “I’m just saying, in general, when you report to training camp, it’s a line of demarcation of development of a group, individually and collectively,” CBS Sports’ Garret Podell wrote.
However, in one of the latest mock drafts for 2026, the Steelers are projected to select QB Dante Moore.
“Moore has been the breakout star at the quarterback position this season. After starting his career at UCLA, Moore sat behind Dillon Gabriel last year. In four games this season, his arm talent and athleticism are on full display. He’s averaging over 10.0 yards per attempt so far. If he continues to impress this weekend against Penn State, Moore could even soar higher than this,” CBS Sports’ Mike Renner wrote.

Moore hasn’t been talked about much, but he is putting up impressive numbers through four weeks of football. His first true road test is coming up this weekend.
If Moore continues to prove himself, he is in a great spot to be a lottery pick. Time will tell, but the QB battle between Howard and Moore could make for a highly competitive competition come next training camp.
