The Seattle Mariners are red-hot at the right time. Seattle started Wednesday’s game against the lowly Colorado Rockies as winners of five straight games. The Mariners started the day at 88-69, which was four ahead of the Houston Astros.
Starting play on Wednesday, the Mariners could clinch the American League West, and still have a shot at having the top record in the American League.
It did not take long for Seattle to get the party started.

Cal Raleigh, otherwise known as “The Big Dumper” smacked his 59th home run of the season into the stands in the bottom of the first inning to give Seattle a 1-0 lead. Julio Rodriguez followed it up with 32nd and then in the same inning Jorge Polanco went deep.

Seattle got T-Mobile Park rocking early, always a good thing, especially when playing a team with just 43 wins on the season.
Raleigh doubled in two more runs in the second inning, and it was all Mariners early, while Houston was just getting underway against the Athletics.
The series will finish tomorrow night from Seattle. Then, the Los Angeles Dodgers come to town for a weekend series to finish the regular-season.
