The Baltimore Orioles have had a disappointing collapse this season after finally breaking out this past year. Because of their lack of direction, it may cause some players on their roster to want to skip town.

Fansided’s Christopher Kline believes that the Orioles’ ace, Trevor Rogers, could be one of those players, as he thinks the O’s might be inclined to trade him.

“One of the few bright spots for the Orioles this season has been southpaw Trevor Rogers, who has delivered Cy Young-level dominance when available. He has a 1.35 ERA and 0.87 ERA through 17 starts (106.2 innings), which is not an unsubstantial sample size. An All-Star with the Marlins back in 2021 and still only 27 years old, Rogers’ ceiling is incredibly high. We can expect plenty of trade interest to percolate this offseason, as he enters his walk year,” Kline wrote.

Kline continued, stating the O’s should try to keep him, but GM Mike Elias might trade him thinking it the right move.

“Ideally the O’s to stand pat, especially with their current shortage on the mound. But if Elias misreads the long game and attempts to sell high, Rogers has the stuff to make Baltimore live in regret for years to come. He shouldn’t be on the block, but with this front office, never say never,” Kline concluded.

Rogers is a clear cut ace for the O’s, especially after they let their old one walk in Corbin Burnes. If the O’s think they have to go into rebuilding again, they could try and trade Rogers, but it could be better to keep him through it. Hopefully they do, as losing him would definitely put their rotation in a bind.
