Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has vowed to pick Alejandro Garnacho in his World Cup squad next year on one condition.

The 21-year-old winger sealed a move from Manchester United to Chelsea over the summer but has yet to start for the Blues so far.

However, that could change on Tuesday night when Chelsea travel to Lincoln City in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Garnacho was seemingly set to make his debut against his former club on Saturday, but remained an unused substitute in the end.

Once he makes his debut for the Blues, Garnacho will be hoping to make the left wing spot his own at Stamford Bridge.

However, that will be easier said than done as Chelsea have a number of quality players competing for that spot in the team.

Lionel Scaloni orders Alejandro Garnacho to deliver at Chelsea

Garnacho will want to have a successful season at Stamford Bridge to prove all of his doubters wrong, but Scaloni has also given him an extra bit of motivation.

According to DSports, the pair recently had a conversation where Garnacho asked about his current situation with the Argentina national team ahead of next year’s World Cup.

The same outlet claims that, in response, Scaloni told the former United star that a call-up is possible but only if he has a good season at Chelsea.

To do that, Garnacho first needs to win a spot in Enzo Maresca‘s starting XI, which is not a straightforward task.

Garnacho will have to fight off competition from Pedro Neto and Jamie Gittens, who are ahead of him in the pecking order at this point.
