Lamar Jackson was doing Lamar Jackson things on “Monday Night Football.” But this time, it wasn’t enough for the Baltimore Ravens.
The Detroit Lions came into Baltimore and claimed a 38-30 road victory, sacking Jackson seven times in the process while gashing the Ravens’ run defense for 224 yards on the ground.
For Jackson, it was a fairly rare loss for multiple reasons. Not only are the Ravens now 1-2 and facing a small hill to climb for AFC North contention, but the loss put an end to multiple career trends for the star quarterback: his success against the NFC and on “Monday Night Football.”

On an individual level, there wasn’t much to nitpick from Jackson’s performance in a Week 3 loss. He was efficient, didn’t turn the ball over, and tossed three touchdown passes to bring his total to nine this season. Jackson has yet to throw an interception in 2025.
He had some terrific throws throughout the night, from a huge play to Tez Walker, to his two touchdown passes to Mark Andrews.

However, the Ravens’ let Jackson down in other areas, from Derrick Henry’s third fumble of 2025 already in the fourth quarter, to Baltimore’s defense allowing 200-plus rushing yards from the Lions’ ground game. By the time Jackson threw his third touchdown pass, it was too little, too late for a comeback attempt.
Still, Jackson is on-pace to have another outstanding season in 2025. The two-time MVP hasn’t used his legs quite as much as last year, rushing for just one touchdown through three games, but Jackson has played some of his best football early in the new season.
The Lions’ pressure proved to be a real issue for Jackson on “Monday Night Football” though, tying the quarterback’s record for most sacks taken in a game.

Lamar Jackson record vs. NFC
Coming into Monday’s matchup against the Lions, Jackson had been simply dominant against the NFC in his career. While the Ravens star has often come up just short in the postseason against the likes of AFC elites like the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills, Jackson has rarely struggled in inter-conference matchups over his eight-year career.
Monday’s loss to Detroit marked just Jackson’s third-ever loss to an NFC squad in 27 matchups. As a starter, he now owns a 24-3 all-time record against NFC teams, per StatMuse. That .889 winning percentage over a 17-game season would equate to 15.1 wins; Jackson’s Ravens have repeatedly come through against opponents from the opposite conference, a trend that didn’t hold in Week 3.
Jackson’s only two prior losses against the NFC were to the New York Giants in October 2022 (24-20 Giants win) and to the Philadelphia Eagles in December 2024 (24-19 Eagles win). Otherwise, he had taken down every other NFC squad he faced, including 11-straight inter-conference victories from October 2022 to October 2024.
According to StatMuse, Jackson’s new 24-3 record against the NFC after Monday includes a 66.3% completion percentage, plus a total of 50 passing touchdowns and nine interceptions in those games. The Lions did something that NFC squads have rarely done in recent years by beating Jackson on Monday night.
Lamar Jackson Monday Night Football record
Yet another career trend for Jackson that came to a halt Monday was his record in the week-concluding primetime slot. Entering Week 3, Jackson owned a 7-2 record in Monday night games. The Lions handed him his third Monday night loss.
Jackson’s only previous losses on “Monday Night Football” came in September 2020 against the Kansas City Chiefs (34-20 Chiefs win) and in September 2021 against the Las Vegas Raiders (33-27 Raiders win). His numbers were also fantastic in those Monday games, with no interceptions and 22 passing touchdowns.
While those strong individual numbers continued, Jackson couldn’t quite lead Baltimore to a win.

Lamar Jackson career passer rating
During Monday night’s game, ESPN showcased another statistic that displays Jackson’s stardom in his NFL career thus far. According to the broadcast, Jackson currently owns the highest career passer rating of all-time, with a minimum of 2,000 attempts.
Jackson comes in mere decimal points above Aaron Rodgers, who does have plenty more experience, on the all-time list. With his career rating of 102.6, Jackson also comes in ahead of Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow.
