The New York Giants‘ 22-9 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs was a brutal watch, and even those in attendance appear to be out on Russell Wilson as the starter.
We are three games into the season, and in two of them, Russ has looked, well, not good, to the extent where the fans at MetLife Stadium on Sunday night were booing when he was coming into the game after Jaxson Dart had his couple of plays.
With the offense, led by Wilson, having scored just six and then nine points, either side of that Dallas Cowboys game that saw the unit put up 37 points, things have been woeful.
As such, many want head coach Brian Daboll to bench Wilson for Dart right now and give the rookie some runway in 2025.
But they shouldn’t…yet.
Why? Because John Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers, who make life hell for veteran quarterbacks, are up next. New York can’t throw a rookie into that sort of fire; that’s nightmare fuel for Jaxson.

When should Giants start Dart?
Given how Wilson has performed and how we expect the offense to look against one of the league’s best defensive units, if it were my call, it would be Week 5 against the New Orleans Saints.
Yes, it’s a road game, but the Saints aren’t exactly flying and just gave up 44 points to the Seattle Seahawks. But after New Orleans, Dart could be in trouble with the Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos, Eagles again, and then the San Francisco 49ers on the schedule.
So Daboll will have a decision to make, but if it were me, I’d let Russ take the Chargers and then put Dart in and see what you have.
What have the Giants got to lose?
