It promises to be a spicy Southeastern Conference opener Saturday afternoon in Norman, Oklahoma.
Auburn and Oklahoma, who are both ranked in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, face off at Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium-Owen Field.
When the two teams faced off last season, at Auburn’s Jordan-Hare Stadium, the Sooners trailed in the fourth quarter but thanks in large part to a pick-six from linebacker Kip Lewis, were able to pull off a 27-21 win, though it ended up being one of two SEC victories OU was able to enjoy in its inaugural tour through the league.
Both Oklahoma and Auburn come in with 3-0 records and each has a win against a Power Four school. The Sooners, ranked No. 11 in the AP poll, own a win at home against Michigan, while No. 22 Auburn already went on the road and won at Baylor.
Of course, one huge storyline going into Saturday’s game is the return of former OU quarterback Jackson Arnold, now at Auburn after transferring there following last season. Arnold would love nothing more than to beat his old team, which has been flourishing so far under its new signal-caller, John Mateer.
