Two big clubs with spotty starts to the Premier League season meet to determine the recipient of a vital three points as Manchester United host Enzo Maresca and Chelsea in a Saturday spotlight kickoff.
These two sides have just three total wins between them through the first four matches of the season. That has left Chelsea in fifth as they chase Liverpool and Arsenal at the top of the table, while Manchester United are way down in 15th in the early going.
It means both managers face pressure to pick up results, and at least one of them will have to answer for dropped points after the 90 minutes today. Ruben Amorim especially is on the hot seat, as he has been for much of the 2025 calendar year.

Man United vs. Chelsea live updates, highlights from Premier League
1 hour to kickoff: Each club has a player disappointed not to make a key appearance in the starting XI today.
For Manchester United, goalkeeper Senne Lammens continues waiting to make his Premier League debut for the Red Devils, having joined on deadline day to replace Andre Onana. Meanwhile, new Chelsea signing Alejandro Garnacho does not appear in the XI against his former club, against whom he’d surely have liked to log a strong performance.
1 hour 15 mins to kick: Lineups are in! For Man United, Amad Diallo gets to move from wing-back to attacking midfield, with Mason Mount moved to the bench and Noussair Mazraoui stepping in. For Chelsea, Malik Fofana steps in at centre-back, while Reece James moves from midfield to full-back.
1 hour 30 mins to kick: There was a report from The Sun over the last few days that Ruben Amorim may have as few as three games to save his job, but a subsequent report by Simon Stone of the Manchester Evening News said the club has internally dismissed this notion.
1 hour 45 mins to kick: According to WhoScored’s algorithm, only two Manchester United players make it into the combined XI between these two clubs so far through four Premier League matches. How would you rate this lineup?

2 hours to kickoff: Despite Manchester United’s downturn in recent years, it has been over a decade since the Red Devils were beaten in league play by Chelsea at Old Trafford. The Blues have not won at Man United in Premier League action since May of 2013, when Rafa Benitez secured a 1-0 victory on an 87th minute goal by Juan Mata.

Man United vs. Chelsea lineups, team news
United received some good news on Friday as Amorim confirmed that Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount were fit to face Chelsea. That leaves Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez as their main injury absentees.
New signing Senne Lammens will keep waiting to make his Premier League debut in goal for the club. Matthijs de Ligt is expected to lead the backline, which also consists of Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw, although the latter had a poor game last time out against Man City.
In midfield, it will be interesting to see if Amorim bites the bullet and gives Kobbie Mainoo a start following an impressive cameo against City, although the return of Mount and Cunha could mean Bruno Fernandes drops back to partner Casemiro. Noussair Mazraoui and Patrick Dorgu start at wing-back, which means Amad Diallo moves up to the attack with Mason Mount to the bench.
Man United starting lineup (3-4-2-1): Bayindir (GK) — Maguire, De Ligt, Shaw — Mazraoui, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dorgu — Mbeumo, Diallo — Sesko.
Man United subs: Lammens (GK), Heaven, Yoro, Fredricson, Mainoo, Ugarte, Mount, Cunha, Zirkzee.
Chelsea have also been dealt their fair share of injuries as they will be without the services of Liam Delap, Levi Colwill, Dario Essugo, Benoit Badiashile and Romeo Lavia.
Having faced Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night, Enzo Maresca would ideally like to rest a few players who played in that game, but it seems unlikely that it will happen.
All eyes will be on Chelsea’s talisman, Cole Palmer, who was feeling his groin towards the end of the Champions League encounter, but Maresca confirmed that he is fine to feature on Saturday.
The creative burden up front will rest on Palmer along with Pedro Neto and Estevao Willian, while Joao Pedro features as the striker. Former United winger Alejandro Garnacho will have to wait to appear against his old club.
Chelsea starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Sanchez (GK) — James, Chalobah, Fofana, Cucurella — E. Fernandez, Caicedo — Estevao, Palmer, Neto — Joao Pedro.
Chelsea subs: Jorgensen (GK), Hato, Gusto, Adarabioyo, Santos, Gittens, Garnacho, George, Guiu.
