The Indianapolis Colts are 2-0 for the first time since 2009 after a dramatic, last gasp 29-28 win over the Denver Broncos.
Spencer Shrader’s 45-yard field goal on the final play was the difference on Sunday. Quarterback Daniel Jones was excellent as well, passing for over 315 yards and recording two total touchdowns. Running back Jonathan Taylor contributed 215 total scrimmage yards as well.
All these players will undoubtedly be pleased with themselves and how strong the team has been out of the gate this year. But there’s one player enjoying himself more than everyone else: punter Rigoberto Sanchez.
Through two games, the Colts still have not punted once. Their first 10 posessions of the season resulted in points, becoming the first team in NFL history to achieve that feat.

That streak only came to an end after a turnover on downs against Denver. Sanchez is yet to put his foot through the ball, making his job as easy as it could ever get. Per Colts PR, no team has ever gone without a punt in its first two games in NFL history.
With zero punts recorded this season, Indianapolis is the first team in the Super Bowl era to not punt in either of their first two games.

Since entering the league in 2017, Sanchez has only had one game without a punt, the season opener in 2020. So back-to-back games without one is certainly a luxury.
Only time will tell when his first punt of the season will come, but for now, he’s enjoying the Colts’ start more than any of his teammates by far.
