Justin Jefferson is putting himself in the conversation of the best wide receivers to ever do it, at least with how he’s started his career with the Minnesota Vikings.
On Sunday, he has a chance to tie an impressive NFL record that will prove just how special he is.
When the Vikings play on Sunday Night Football, Jefferson will need just a single reception to achieve history.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared this stat on X on Sunday morning:
“Justin Jefferson is 26 years and 90 days old today, and with his first catch tonight vs. the Falcons, he’ll tie Larry Fitzgerald as the youngest player in NFL history to reach 500 career receptions. Fitzgerald also was exactly 26 years and 90 years old in 2009 when he caught his 500th NFL pass.”

First off, that’s remarkable symmetry. What are the odds that Jefferson and Fitzgerald would reach this milestone opportunity exactly the same amount of days into their lives?
It’s also a good omen for Jefferson and the Vikings.
Fitzgerald remained one of the NFL’s best receivers for essentially the entirety of his lengthy career.
If the Vikings have another decade of Jefferson being his shining star self, it’ll be a great decade to be in Minnesota.

Nothing is a given, of course, but thus far, Jefferson has been one of the surest things in the NFL.
