The Dallas Cowboys needed some good news on Monday.
They got it from rookie running back Jaydon Blue.
He was back on the practice field after leaving their preseason finale with an ankle injury. The injury was reported as a low sprain, and it didn’t stop Blue from getting right back into the swing of things.
It’s a key development, because the Cowboys open the season in 10 days. They’re playing in the NFL’s first game, the Thursday night clash on Sept. 4 with the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles.

Blue missed the first two preseason games with an injury before getting out there for the third and final August contest.
He ran nine times for 25 yards with a 1-yard touchdown before his injury took him out of the game.
There was initial fear since it was to the same area of his leg that he’d injured previously, but it turns out to be not as bad as it could’ve been.
Blue is in an intriguing RB depth chart battle in Dallas.
The Cowboys got rid of Rico Dowdle in the offseason, leaving the RB1 role wide open for the taking.
Then, they went and signed veterans Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders. Based on usage, it seems Williams will get the first crack at the No. 1 job.

Blue is the wild card. Dallas drafted him in the fifth round out of Texas, and he’s the fastest back on the roster. His blazing speed has the potential to be game-changing, even in just a part-time role.
The Cowboys are certainly more dangerous with Blue healthy, and that’s what he is right now. They’ve just got to keep it that way.
